Abstract

Physical and mathematical textbooks published before 1878 are analyzed. Earliest Bulgarian primary, secondary and high school textbooks are determined. There are new and unknown Bulgarian textbooks on physics found accidentally. Biography of Nestor Marcoff (1871) who is remarkable teacher and mathematician elucidates translation and publication of the first high school textbook on Statics. The exceptionally clarity and accuracy of the first Bulgarian textbook on trigonometry (1871) shows his scientific culture and erudition.
